This historic 1820's farm cabin overlooks a cove on Boone Lake. With exposed beams, three stone fireplaces, and wrought iron sconces holding retrofit oil lamps, this rustic retreat is a step back in time! Come and enjoy if you're looking for a relaxing retreat from everyday life. The space This home was built in the early 1800's - and it has been preserved to keep its charm over the years! The kitchen has an incredible stone fireplace that is currently decorative and not in use. There is a stove top & oven available for use, double sink, and any dishes/cutlery are free to use. There are ice trays in the freezer for your convenience. From the kitchen, you'll walk through the breezeway which has laundry, a "breakfast nook", and access to the bathroom. The breezeway was added in the 1960's when the residents added indoor plumbing and connected the cabin to the kitchen. An important note here is that the bathroom is on the bottom floor, and the bedrooms are on the top floor. Something to consider if you have trouble with mobility. The living room feels like the "main room" with the large stone fireplace with the wood stove, an antique pump organ, and plenty of seating. There is a TV in here, although we do not keep it hooked up. If you'd like to use the TV please let us know ahead of time so that we can get it plugged in for you - although you'd only have access to the DVDs that you bring. We enjoy a cable and wifi-free home. Upstairs in the cabin there are three bedrooms. As you walk upstairs up a twisting wooden set of stairs, you immediately walk into the master bedroom that has a queen mattress. There is also a chest, a foot stool, and two chairs to rest your belongings on. Right off the main bedroom - without a hallway - are the two smaller bedrooms. There is no hallway because when this home was built, they were trying to keep all beds as close to the source of warmth (fireplaces!) as possible. In the second bedroom there are bunk beds, and in the third bedroom there is a twin mattress. There is an extra mattress under that bed in case it needs to be pulled out - but that does not have a bed frame. Accessing the home - you'll pull in the driveway and the home will be on your right. We use the "back door" - the front still uses a skeleton key so we keep that closed. There is a light sensor right above the door, and it takes you right into the kitchen. You'll see a patio with seating and a bonfire area with plenty of wood to keep the fire going. Let us know if you'll want to roast marshmallows, we'll leave a bag out for you! We also typically have a hammock hanging on the other side of the house (in good weather) under a few Sugar Maple trees, in case you'd like to catch your afternoon nap in the shade.

This is just a great place to take advantage of the races and the river. We enjoyed restoring the farm and house to make a scenic countryside vacation spot. We stripped down the house and were able to save the old pine floors and ceilings as well as some nostalgia with an old homemade wood stove and some ancient metal shingles. We made some unique furniture out of barn wood and used luthier grade curly maple to make the kitchen cabinets.The plumbing is indoor and modern and the beds and linens are new. The main level upstairs has 2 bedrooms-- a queen and a daybed with 2 twins, as well as a bath with an extra sink outside. The living room has a sleeper sofa and the small kitchen is on this level. Downstairs has a King bedroom and a bunkroom along with a family area, laundry and bath with a jacuzzi jetted bathtub.
